Mr. Freddie Milton Whitman, a resident of Lynn Haven, Florida and formerly of Ozark, died Friday, April 23, 2021. He was 82 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitman will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 26, 2021, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Whitman was born August 19, 1938 in Ozark, Alabama to the late James Roy Whitman and Eula Belle Senn Whitman. He served in the United States Navy and lived in Ozark until moving to Panama City in 1993. He was raised in a Christian home and was taught to love the Lord at an early age. His family always knew where he stood in his faith. Mr. Whitman worked as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor at Fort Rucker. While living in Panama City, he became an insurance inspector. He followed in his father’s footsteps with his carpentry skills. Mr. Whitman loved a game of golf, whether playing or watching. He was nicknamed “Fast Freddie” by his golf buddies because he was so methodical about what shot he was going to hit and never be in a hurry about anything. Mr. Whitman was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a gentle man, witty, dapper and charming. He loved spending time with his family, working in his yards and Alabama football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Christopher Whitman and Woody Paramore; and sister, Earline Whitman.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ezell Whitman; his children, Debbie (Keith) Trawick, Diane (Billy) Hill, Paul (DJ) Whitman, Dana (Dennis) Dunnigan, Dawn Paramore (Clay Franklin); grandchildren, Brandy (Drew) Miller, Daniel (Genevieve) Trawick, Laura Young, Ben Jimmerson, Will (Keltin) Jimmerson, Lauren (Phillip) Mardis, Neal Whitman, Jade Paramore, Ashley (Chris) Smith, Michael (Elaine) Dunnigan, Timothy (Christin) Dunnigan; additional great grandchildren including, Libby Miller, Landri Miller, Leighton Miller, Whitley Preston, Cylas Young, Sydney Young, Grayson Jimmerson, Emma Jimmerson; one sister, Nell (Charles) Cornelius; two brothers, Howard (Faye) Whitman and Frankie (Jennifer) Whitman; a sister-in-law, Peggy (Don) Chapman. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
