Mr. Gene Austin Fennell, 73, of Dothan passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday, October 7, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jody Hadden officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Fennell was born June 10, 1940 in Houston County, AL. He was the youngest of 9 children born to the late Alton Elbert Fennell and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hinson Fennell. Mr. Fennell owned and operated Fennco, Inc. in Dothan, AL until the time of his retirement. Prior to founding Fennco, Inc. he owned and operated Andalusia Concrete Products in Andalusia, AL. He was also employed as manager of Brewton Materials in Dothan, Alabama for many years and also owned and operated a gas station in Enterprise, AL for a short period of time.

Mr. Fennell was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Elbert Fennell and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hinson Fennell; brothers, James and Preston Fennell; sisters, Becky Adkins, Betty Lou Strickland, Mildred Wiest, and Shirley Faye Fennell.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Roberts Fennell; his children, Sherry Lindley (Jeremy), Todd Fennell, Shannon Davis (Derek), and Trae Fennell (Mandy); grandchildren, Adrianna Lindley, Katie Beth Lindley, Ashtyn Fennell, Cara Normand Williams (Scotty), Alex Normand, Tyler Normand (Kaylee), Brady Davis, Bryant Davis, Madison Fennell, Ella Grace Fennell, and Mason Fennell; great-grandchildren, Madilyn Audrey and Ellie Kate Williams, and Colton Normand; a sister Sybil Phillips; a brother Jimmy Fennell.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Barefoot, Larry Floyd, Tommy Glover, Keith Kirkland, George Hughes and Mike Goodson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Colquitt and Carl Adams.
