Glenn “Bud” Eckles, a resident of Chipley, formerly of Dothan, Alabama, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital. He was 77.


Funeral services for Mr. Eckles will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Kocsis officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church 105 Luther Way, Dothan, Alabama 36301.


Mr. Eckles was born October 21, 1936 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Clarence George Eckles and Doloris Jane O’Riley Eckles. Mr. Eckles lived in Dothan for the last forty four years, where he worked as a barber. He served his county in the United States Air Force for ten years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dothan, and was a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Tallahassee, Florida.


Mr. Eckles is preceded in death by his parents, and a son Glenn Leroy Eckles, Jr.


Mr. Eckles is survived by his son, James Alan Eckles of Dothan, Alabama, and Bryan Scott Eckles and his wife Febra, of Nederland, Texas; three daughters, Paula Eckles Woody of Filer, Idaho, Sharon Johnson of Bryan, Texas, and Kathy Dickerson, and her husband Houston of Hearne, Texas; twelve grandchildren; four brothers, and two sisters.
