Obituary: Mr. George Gary Wells Sr.
Mr. George Gary Wells Sr. of Dothan passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Southeast Health. He was 67.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Sorrells Funeral Home chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Ricky Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
Mr. Wells was born June 5, 1953 in Hartford, AL to the late George Harvey and Lucille Gilley Wells. He worked for Grantham Cabinet Shop and was the Rec. Park director in Hartford and Ashford. George enjoyed being a softball umpire, coaching baseball, fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Alabama and Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, his grandfather, Homer Gilley; brother, Bill Kiser, and brother-in-law, Charles Wood all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Scott Wells; daughter, Stephanie Simmons (Michael); sons: Gary Wells (Tara), Chad Wells (Tera), and Kevin Wells; grandchildren: Ava, Paityn, Joshua, Gracie, Tanner, Addisyn, Lillian, Kalie. Garyn, Sarah, Hailey, Tucker, and Kenny Wells, Michael, Joseph, and Jonathan Simmons, and Kortney Miller; nine step grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters: Polly Wood, and Linda Bowen (Rex); brothers: Junior Wells (Wanda), Johnny Mack Wells, Gerald Wells, and Bob Kiser; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
