George Nicholas Saad, a Dothan native and lifelong resident, passed away August 31,2024,
after a lengthy illness. The only son of Saad’s Jewelry founders Jameely and Nick Saad, George returned to his hometown following his University of Alabama graduation.
Along with his beloved sister, the late Angela Saad, the siblings joined the family business which their parents founded in Dothan in 1952, first on Foster Street downtown and later on the Montgomery Highway. The local jewelry store closed in 2016.
George graduated from Dothan High School, where he played football. He was an avid Crimson Tide football fan, as well as the Atlanta Braves. George was a member of the Dothan Rotary Club, and the Dothan Elks Club .
Like his father, George was a longtime supporter of the Dothan Peanut Festival. Because of Saad’s relationships with iconic American brands, when movie producer Oliver Stone was searching for 1960s era props for his Kennedy Assassination movie , JFK, the Bulova Company sent them to George Saad in Dothan to recreate a jewelry store window for the movie.
Known as an ace at complex watch repair and intricate diamond setting— both talents inherited from his father— even after the store closed, George continued to hear from longtime customers hesitant to buy a watch or diamond without him.
He was married to Debbie Martin , who survives him, and they raised three sons, Michael, Jason and Austin. George and Debbie have three grandchildren. Britany, Hayli, & Spencer.
George is also survived by his younger sister, Patricia (Tricia) of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
