Obituary: Mr. Gerald E. Bottoms
Mr. Gerald E. Bottoms, 67 of Dothan, AL passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on July 1, 2013.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford at 11:00 am with Ricky Hall and J. Robert McMicken officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:45 and continuing until service time.
Gerald was born May 26, 1946 in Jackson County FL. He was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served in many positions including Church Treasurer, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and other positions until his illness kept him from active service. He then received the honor of Deacon Emeritus.
“Chief” Bottoms worked 31 years in Civil Service as a firefighter with the Ft. Rucker Fire Department. He retired as Assistant Fire Chief. He was the first E911 Director of Geneva County, served eight years and implemented the E911 service for the county.

Mr. Bottoms was preceded in death by his father, Leonard T. Bottoms; mother Martha Fondren Bottoms Coe; Step-father, John M. Coe; two brothers: Roger D. and Larry L. Bottoms.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bottoms; one son, Alan Bottoms; three brothers: Michael Bottoms (Janet), Jerry Bottoms (Helen), Danny Bottoms (Janet) and Christopher Bottoms (Elaine); sister-in-laws; Terri Bottoms and Grace McCullough; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Mayne (Freddie), Eddie T. Glover, Dorothy Boyers and Jane Brown (Bill); aunts and uncles: Aubrey and Caroline Fondren, Archie and Sue Fondren, Faye Wright and Ray and Pat Fondren; aunts: Inez Fondren and Sue Fondren; several nieces and nephews.
