Mr. Gerald Max Harden, a resident of Newton, died Wednesday evening, August 18, 2021, at his home. He was 80 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Harden will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 23, 2021, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Dr. Mark Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Harden, Tim Harden, Colby King, Robert Dockery, Chad Johnson and Reid Jacob Hall.
Mr. Harden was born January 27, 1941 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William Grady Harden and Maude O. Brannon Harden. He worked with various contractors at Fort Rucker for 57 years, retiring in 2017. Mr. Harden also owned Harden Gun Shop in Newton for over 50 years. He was a member of Ozark Church of Christ and served on the Dale County Commission for two terms.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gail German Harden of Newton; one daughter, Teresa King (Ronnie) of Newton; one son, Craig Harden (Felicia) of Dothan; two grandchildren, Evan King and Colby King (Tori); two great grandchildren, Hannah King and Stephen King; and his special friend and employee for over 40 years, David Billingsley.
