Obituary:  Glen Duncan



Mr. Glen Duncan of Enterprise passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014.  He was 90.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise with Reverend Shaun Crosby officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 until 8 pm.


Mr. Duncan was well known in Enterprise as the manager of Danley Furniture Co. for over 30 years. Before his employment with Danley’s, he worked in oil exploration as a gravity-meter operator for Frost Gravimetric Surveys in west Texas and southwest Alabama. Mr. Duncan was known as the family historian. His numerous stories were legendary at family gatherings. He will be deeply missed.


Mr. Duncan was a member of the First Assembly of God in Enterprise and a past member of the Rotary Club.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Duncan; his son, Danny Duncan; his brothers, Ray and Ed; and his sister, Myrtle Sasser.


Mr. Duncan is survived by a son, Dr. Joel Glenn Duncan and his wife, Holly of Conifer, Colorado. He is also survived by his daughter, Lynn Lake and her husband Captain Russell D. Lake of Destin, Florida.  He also has two grandsons, Charles Mancuso of Destin, FL and Lt. Commander Bo Mancuso and his wife Michelle, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mr. Duncan also has one great grandson, Michael Glenn, Tallahassee, FL.


Mr. Duncan is survived by two sisters, Francis Patrick and her husband Manual of Enterprise and Marie Kidd of Brantley, AL, by two brothers, Eual Duncan and Farrell Duncan, both of Enterprise, and brother- in-law, William Adkins and wife Judy, Ozark, Al and numerous nieces and nephews.
