Mr. H. Austin Landers, a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 99 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Landers will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2022, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Eric Fuller officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tallassee, Alabama, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 2:00 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Landers was born November 21, 1922, in Eclectic, Alabama (Elmore County) to the late Bink and Belle Wingard Landers. He graduated in 1942 from Elmore County High School in Eclectic and later attended and graduated from the L. S. U. Banking School of the South in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from 1959 – 1962. He worked in the banking business for 43 years which included Dale, Coffee and Elmore Counties. He served as Treasurer of The Dale County Heart Fund for 14 years. Mr. Landers hobbies were working, gardening, serving people and some fishing in his younger days. After retirement, he enjoyed working with his woodland and his nursery where he rooted, grew and sold shrubs and flowers in his back yard. He also enjoyed traveling with tour and church groups.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Jeanette Frances Hornsby Landers; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sandi Landers; and brother and sister-in-law, William Dawson and Ruby Landers.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Landers; one daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Michael Mathis; four grandchildren, Donne Landers (Krissy), Melissa Russo (Mike), Kristen Mathis, Zachary Parkerson (Madeline); four great grandchildren, Kelsey Landers, Turner Landers, Davis Landers and Ethan Russo; and one great-great grandchild, Everett Landers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
