Mr. Harold June Ratchford, a resident of Columbia, Alabama, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, February 17, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was eighty-five years old.
Funeral services will be graveside 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Phillip Durr officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.
Mr. Ratchford was born June 26, 1932 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Joseph and Melvine Carver Ratchford. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Ratchford was proud and honored to serve the United States. Following his military service, he worked with Georgia Pacific in Cedar Springs, Georgia for twenty-five years until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Ratchford. He was the last living sibling of eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Miller Burt Ratchford; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Ratchford; his grandson, Ron and his wife Keisha Ratchford; his granddaughter, Rachel Luker; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Reiston, Ryland, and Ryker Ratchford, and Embreigh Luker, all of Columbia, Alabama; his loving mother-in-law, Ethel Miller of Ozark, Alabama. He is also survived by four step-children, Neal Burt (Lana) of Prattville, Alabama, Vicki (Dennis) Hagler of Troy, Alabama, Tammy Burt of Ozark, Alabama, Jeff (Deborah) Burt of Ozark, Alabama; eight step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; and special friends, John and Francis McDaniel.
