Mr. Harry Stephen “Steve” Morgan of Geneva, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, August 15, 2013. He was 64.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Kurt Kraft and Larry Harrison delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, August 17, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Geneva Police Department.
Steve was born August 9, 1949, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Mary Frances Jennings Smith. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, which included a tour in Vietnam. For several years he was employed with the Geneva Police Department and in 2004 he retired as Assistant Chief. He was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Ministries where he had previously served as Sunday School Superintendent. Steve was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very devoted to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Janet Gail Glisson Morgan; one daughter, Angela Gail Morgan Miller (Roland); one son, Ricky Morgan (Lynn); three grandchildren: Katy, Zack and Gracie Morgan, all of Geneva; two brothers: Hank Morgan (Diana) and Tony Smith (Renee), all of Ladson, SC; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.
Active pallbearers will be Frankie Lindsey, David Helms, Michael McDuffie, Tony Helms, Greg Ward, Glenn Miller, Danny Staley and Chuck Grantham. All other law enforcement personnel will serve as honorary pallbearers.
