Mr. Harry W. Wilson of Samson passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018. He was 82. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Minister Harry O. Adkison and Rev. Elbert Smith, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Mr. Wilson was born in Geneva County, AL on March 16, 1935, to the late Walter and Nora Wilson. He graduated from Samson High School, Class of 1953. Following his service in the US Air Force, Harry moved back to Geneva County where he became a fixture in the community owning and operating Harry Wilson’s Store in the Marl Community for nearly sixty years until his passing.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Jackie Wilson of Samson; daughter, Harriett Stephen (Nathan) of Montgomery; son, Walter C. Wilson (Kelsi) of Samson; five grandchildren, Wilson Anne Stephen, Lynleigh Stephen, both of Montgomery, Audri Wilson, Piper Wilson, and Noah Wilson; and a sister, Martha Revels (Gene) all of Samson.
