Mr. Ramon Hasten McCardle of Cottonwood, AL, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Memphis Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Tate and Reverend Rick Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the funeral home and at other times will be at the family residence.
Born in Houston County, Al, Hasten was a son of the late Ben and Malissie Watson McCardle. He owned and operated the McCardle Farm until his recent retirement. Hasten was a 1964 graduate of Cottonwood High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Memphis Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McCardle was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harmon Battles.
Serving as active pallbearers will be B. J. McCardle, Timmy McCardle, Bobby Camp, Artis Whitehead, Danny Joe Kirkland, Randall Meadows, Johnny Jackson and Robert Effurd.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Shelby Womack and Jimmy Johnson Sunday School Class of Memphis Baptist Church and members of the 1964 graduating class of Cottonwood High School.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Battles McCardle; one son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Kim McCardle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and David Williams, Kristy and Heath Lee all of Cottonwood, AL; a sister, Elizabeth Clark, Slocomb, AL; seven grandchildren, Amanda Neumann, Kassidy Williams, Jaylin Williams, Cody McCardle, Benjamin McCardle, Dylan McCardle and Chloe Lee; Mother-in-law, Mildred Battles, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Vicki and Reverend Joe Green; several nieces and nephews.
