Mr. Henry Allen Wheeler died peacefully and is now home with the Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017. He was 66.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Memphis Baptist Church with Reverends Jim Tate and Rick Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Men’s Ministry at Memphis Baptist Church.
Mr. Wheeler was a member of Memphis Baptist Church. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1968 and then attended Marion Military Institute. He owned and operated Wheeler Ornamental Metals where he started working with his Dad at an early age. He did beautiful work all over the country. He was a former Cub Master of the Boy Scouts of America, past member of the Dothan Rotary Club, former member of Mason Scottish Rite and served on the board of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association. He enjoyed Antique Cars, fishing at the Everglades and Alabama “Roll Tide.” He was a wonderful Husband, Dad and Opa. It’s not going to be easy saying goodbye to someone who is loved so much. He had the biggest heart and would do just about anything for anyone. His children and grandchildren were the light of his world and his pride and joy. He was always there for them even when he felt his worse. He also had love for a special little buddy named Chip.
He is preceded in death by his parents David and Audrey Wheeler, father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Mildred Speigner, and his grandparents Allen and Granny Hathaway.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years Vicki Wheeler of Dothan; step-mother Roselyn Wheeler of Dothan; daughter Tafna Mims (James) of Dothan; son Shawn Wheeler (Laura) of Dothan; sisters Sherry Cook (Jack) of Dothan; Penney Jones (Carl) of Headland; Reba Montijo (Paul) of Dothan; brother Robert Wheeler (Gayemarie) of DeLeon Springs, FL.; grandchildren Cameron Mims, Beth Wheeler and Paxton Wheeler, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Cherry, Billy Mayes, David McGriff, Kenny Napier, Billy Wells and Ray White.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Bobby Forrest-Friendship Sunday School Class.
