Mr. Henry Clearence Ward, a resident of Newton, passed away Saturday morning, February 17, 2024, in a Dothan Hospital. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Ward with Masonic Rites will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2024 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Gene Nelson officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
A private family interment will be in Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Mr. Ward was born February 26, 1940 in Midland City, Alabama to the late Henry Lawrence Ward and Mary Gussie Spears Ward. He served for four years in the United States Navy. Following his military service he worked with Hayes Incorporated and Pemco International for over forty years. Mr. Ward was a long-standing member of Claybank Masonic Lodge #908. He loved fishing and shooting sports but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Claire Virginia “Jean” Dykes Ward; and his daughter, Susan Aimee Paramore.
He is survived by one daughter and two sons-in-law, Lisa Collette Hicks (Henley) of Slocomb and Ben Paramore of Newton; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth David Ward (Patricia) of Newton; four grandchildren that he adored, Jordan Paramore, Emma Paramore, Stephen Hicks and Megan Paramore; two sisters, Mary Daphine of Dothan and Barbara Bass of Napier Field; one brother, Billy Ward of Napier Field; and one step-brother, Gene Lomax Glover of Skipperville.
