Mr. Howard Milton Anderson of Geneva passed away at a Dothan hospital on Saturday, October 31, 2015. He was 89. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Nathan Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Geneva First Baptist Church, PO Box 579, Geneva, AL 36340.
Mr. Anderson was born in Ocala, Fla. on November 11, 1925, to the late Ernest C. Anderson and Leora Calhoun Anderson. He was a Deacon Emeritus at the First Baptist Church of Geneva. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served nearly twenty years in the US Naval Reserves. Mr. Anderson owned and operated plastic pipe businesses in Slocomb and Samson for nearly fifty years. He was also a member of the Charles Baskerville Masonic Lodge #281. Two brothers preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Karen Anderson; two sons, Gregory H. Anderson (Blakely) and Robert C. Anderson (Joyce) all of Geneva; two daughters, Rebecca Simmons (Gary) of Columbus, Ga. and Jo Karen Green of Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, Matthew and Madison Anderson, Grayson Howard Anderson, Lindsay Potts, Eric Simmons and Whitney Thomas; sister, Virginia Hallman; his loving caregiver, Aretha McCray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
