Obituary:  Mr. Howard W. Butler


 


Mr. Howard W. Butler of Hartford passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 85. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Leach and Rev. Jim Simmons officiating.  Burial will follow in New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  


Mr. Butler was born on October 21, 1927 in Geneva County to the late Gaston O. and Essie Reeder Butler.  He was of the Baptist Faith. For 40 years he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Ft. Rucker.   After his retirement, Mr. Butler enjoyed woodworking, fishing and loved dining on his wife’s fine cooking. 


An infant son, Jeffrey Alan Butler, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sara Christine Jones Butler, Hartford; two sons: Billy Butler, Atlanta, GA and Tim Butler (Teresa), Dothan; one sister, Dorothy Creel (Rames), Slocomb; four grandchildren: Jacob, Beth, Chris and John and numerous nieces and nephews.
