Mr. Huey Jerome Godwin, age 71, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, GA, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Glover Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Headland, AL at Gardens of Memory with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Glover Funeral Home.

Jerome was the son of the late Huey Augustus and Clara Mae Godwin.  He was born on July 31, 1950 in Dothan, AL. He graduated from Dale County High School in 1968, while dually enrolled in the electronics program at Wallace Community College. Shortly after graduation, Jerome became a member of the Air National Guard.

After service, Jerome spent 50 years working and obtaining numerous licenses in the electronics field. During that time Jerome was a partner in the ownership and startup of World Electronics and DSI Electronics. Jerome completed his career with Harris Security Systems as a General Systems Specialist. His proudest accomplishment during this time was training his son Jeremy to replace him in the field.

On February 8, 1969, Jerome Godwin and Gloria Klatt were united in marriage. Their union of 52 years was blessed with 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. 

Throughout his life, Jerome had several hobbies from wood working and watching Alabama football, to his most cherished of all, bream fishing with his wife and family.

Jerome was preceded in death by his sister Irma (Loyd) Willis of Rehobeth, sister Annette Godwin of Napier Field, brother Jerry (Sue) Godwin of Dothan, and brother-in-law Dalton Creel of Dothan.

His memory will forever be cherished in the lives of his surviving family; wife Gloria of Dothan, sister Shirlene Creel of Dothan, and his four children, Cary (Shiela) Godwin of Marianna, Fl,  Anghela (Russell) Adkins of Ozark, Jeremy (Nicole) Godwin of Headland, Amanda (Derek) Price of Slocomb; grandchildren, Nicole (Joey) Smith, Christian Folds, Elizabeth Folds, Hannah Godwin, Caleb and Ella Grace Price, and Kennedy Godwin; great grandchildren Jaydon Godwin, Eyan and Adriana Smith, Jeremiah and Gabriel Folds, and Alydia Brooks.

Pallbearers will be:  Jaydon Godwin, Foster Branton, Eyan Smith, Caleb Price, Joey Smith and Christian Folds. 

Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Godwin.
