Mr. James B. Cannon, Sr. of Samson passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.  He was 84.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Minister Doug Williams, officiating.  Burial will follow at Eight Mile Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.


Mr. Cannon was born in Bristol, FL on January 9, 1935, to the late Brewer Jessie Cannon and Virginia Hentz Cannon.  He graduated from Bay High School in Panama City, FL, Class of 1953.  Prior to his retirement, he worked for Monsanto for thirty-two years.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Cannon and James B. Cannon, Jr.; grandson, Sean Cannon.


He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Wanda Cannon; two daughters, Cynthia Briner (George) of Warrior, AL, and Cheryl Zorn (Patrick) of DeFuniak Springs, FL; son, Robert Scott Cannon (Sheryl) of Boynton Beach, FL; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Davis (Clarence) of Tallahassee, FL, and Alice Leavins of Apalachicola, FL; and a brother, William Cannon (Shirley), of New Market, VA.
