James Coy “Bob” Roland a resident of Cottonwood, Alabama died Sunday, October 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.
Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Madrid City Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11AM to 12PM Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
Bob was born to the late Edward and Vernelle Morgan Roland on April 10, 1940. His work ethic was superb, and he retired as a truck driver for Houston County. He was married for forty-three years to the love of his life Mrs. Ethel Arnold Roland. His hobbies included Cheering on his Alabama Crimson Tide in the fall “Roll Tide” and cheering on his Atlanta Braves in the spring and summer, lawnmower repair, working in his garden, and watching his animals grow. Bob loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and proclaimed his name to everyone. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Bob’s favorite times were spending them with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Ray Roland; a brother, Reginald Roland, and a sister, Merylou Roland Irwin.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; eleven children, Betty Salter (Ricky), Lynn Phillips, Carol Ward, Greg Roland, Jamie Roland (Cheryl), Hurdis Harris, Gayle Irwin (William), Wendell Gobbel (Carol), Mark Snow (Dawn), Sharon Hyatt (Michael) and Jessie Harris; twenty grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Randy Roland, Ronnie Roland, James Scooter Ward, Lee Roland, Tanner Roland, Clayton James Roland, and Aiden Ward.
