 Mr. James Edward Cook of Dothan passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his residence at the age of 90.


Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


Mr. Cook was born December 29, 1932 in Seminole, Georgia to the late James Jefferson Cook and Omah Wood. He grew up in Columbia and attended Houston County High School. He was part of the graduating class of 1952. He was a member of the “1948-1949 HCHS Football Dynasty”, a letterman and a 1951 Co-Captain.


After the army, most of his career was spent in the Insurance Business until he retired.


He was a loving husband and father.


Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life his wife Polly A . Cook, sisters Myrl Gambill (Bill), Ruby Parker (Clyde), and brothers Earl Lewis (Mary), Lester Cook (Vivian).


He is survived by daughter Sheryl Cook, son Jeff Cook(Laura), granddaughter Jerica Cook Pinson (Garrett), great-grandson Noah Pinson, and his niece who was “like a daughter” Cathy Tolar.


James will be remembered for his outgoing personality, commitment to family and friends and willingness to help whenever possible. He will be truly missed.
