Mr. James Edward “Ed” Wilkins, Sr. of Ozark passed away June 1, 2018, at his home following an extended illness. He was 81 years old.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2018 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home in Ozark from 9:30 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Wilkins was born February 9, 1937, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Ed was a loving husband, Daddy and Papaw. Wilkins was a people-person and had a love for bringing joy to everyone he met. He was a jokester and most well known as “The Can Man” in the wiregrass area. He was preceded in death by his forever sweetheart, Barbara Wilkins; his parents, Letha and Claude Wilkins of Wilmington, NC; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Sam Jimmerson of Ozark, Sam Glazier of Castle Hayne, NC, and Bobby (Inez) Glazier of Beaver Dam, NC.
Survivors include one son, James Edward “Eddie” (Kathy) Wilkins Jr. of Riverview, FL; one daughter, Sondra (Gerald) Wynn of Skipperville, AL; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Howell of Black, AL, Kathryn (Gaige) Crooms of Converse, TX, Ella and Katie Wilkins of Riverview, FL and Josh Wynn of Ozark, AL; four great grandchildren, Stetsen Wilkins, Sandyn Wesley, and Sara-Laine Howell, and Hudsen Gaige Crooms; two sisters, Doris Wilkins and Frances Anderson of Raleigh, NC; two sisters-in-law, Addie Jimmerson of Ozark, AL and Pat Glazier of Castle Hayne, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
