Mr. James Edward Sewell of Geneva, Alabama passed away November 11, 2022. He was 79.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2022 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with his brother, Malcolm Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Head Community Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and last until service time.
Edward was born in Holmes Co., FL on December 11, 1942 to the late Daniel Franklin and Ora Mae Hawthorne Sewell. He was an accomplished carpenter and supported his family in the construction industry. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. Although he was an outdoorsman, fishing was his passion, especially going after those catfish. He might have, on occasion, “taken” some he might should have let slide. He wasn’t one who believed in being wasteful. You use what you harvest was his belief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lois King Sewell, daughter, Benita Snell, grandson, Jimmy Mullins and brother, Wilford Sewell.
Edward is survived by one daughter, Melissa Sewell Black (Dewayne) of Winfield, AL; two grandchildren, Marcus Snell (Lindsey) of Montrose, MN, Angel Key of the Damascus community; three great-grandchildren, R.J. Mullins, A’Marie Caldwell, Trinity Caldwell; one son-in-law, Keith Stayer of New Brockton, AL; four brothers, Donald Ray Sewell of Enterprise, Eugene Sewell (Ann) of the Damascus community, Malcolm Sewell (Gracie) of New Brockton, AL, Robert Sewell (Robin) of the Goodman community; four sisters, Ruth Smith of Bonifay, FL, Lucille Hatcher of Geneva, AL, Mary Lou Miller of Hartford, AL and Mary Nell Smith of Samson, AL; a number of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
