Mr. James Franklin “Frank” Strickland of Samson passed away December 19, 2011.  He was 68.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson.  Burial will follow in Reese Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.


 


Mr. Strickland was born in Geneva County, Alabama on July 16, 1943 to the late James Marvin and Mary Wise Strickland.  He served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War.  He loved to fish and work in his garden.  He was preceded in death four sisters, Merlion Simpler, Hilda Grace Aplin, Shelby Jean Simmons and Reba Feaque.


 


He is survived by his wife, Martha McCollough of Samson; two daughters, Lee Strickland of Choctaw, FL and Amy Strickland of Freeport, FL; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Martin of Geneva, Martha White and Diane Thomas; brother, Roger Strickland, all of Samson; and the mother of his children, Wanda Strickland of DeFuniak Springs, FL.
