Mr. James Marvin Granger, 53, of Cottonwood, Alabama, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Grangerburg Church with Reverends Jimmy Coachman, John Smith and Stephen Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the church prior to the services and at other times will be at the home of the brother Van Granger in Cottonwood, Al.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James Granger fund, C/O Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 1000 Hodgesville Road, Dothan, Al  36301.


Born in Houston County, Alabama, James was a son of Frances Vann Granger and the late Calvin “Shine” Granger. He attended Cottonwood High School and was a retired carpenter.


Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Anthony Granger, Dothan, AL and Jamie Granger, Cottonwood, AL; one brother, Calvin Van Granger, Cottonwood, AL; one sister, Laurinda McCord, Cottonwood, AL; three grandchildren, Ethan Granger, Evan Granger and Kole Granger; and his girlfriend, Patricia Henderson, Cottonwood, AL.
