Obituary: Mr. James "Jim" Stephen Field
Mr. James "Jim" Stephen Field of Wicksburg departed Saturday, January 27, 2018 for his eternal adventure with Jesus, his LORD and Savior. He was 67.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors and with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Pilgrim Home Baptist Church, Wicksburg Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department or to the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Field was born August 31, 1950 in Houlton Maine. In keeping with Romans 12:7a "If your gift is serving others, serve them well"; Jim made it his life’s purpose to serve others. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family as their protector, hero and role model. Jim was a member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. He loved serving his church on the Repairs & Maintenance and the Lawn & Landscaping Committees. He served our country with over 20 years in the United States Army and 18 years as an Army civilian employee. He served his community as a member of the Wicksburg Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. He was a Fire Captain, intermediate EMT, Fire Training Officer and a mentor to Junior Firefighters. He served young men through the Boy Scouts (Troop 106) and Order of the Arrow (Cowikee Lodge). He was the unofficial photographer of many scouting activities, a member of the Eagle Review Board, an advisor to the Leadership Executive Council (LEC) and served on the medical staff at national Jamborees and NOACs.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Donald Field and his dad, Urban Hughes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Margie; daughter, Jamie Sue; son, Christopher and his wife Lori; grandchildren: Corey, Brantley, Callista, Addalyn, Grayson and Dillon; great granddaughter, Kylie; mother, Joyce; sisters: Jane and Peggy and her husband Mark; brother, Jason and his wife Debbie; step brothers: Fred and Roger and his wife Joan; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
