James Milford Ennis, Sr. of Dothan passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 97.


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, January 30, 2023, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.


Milford, a former resident of Elba, was born June 15, 1925, to the late John Willie Ennis and Sara Lura Bryan. Milford proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserve for 28 years, before retirement. He loved working in sales, making new friends and helping others, never meeting a stranger.


In addition to his parents, John Willie Ennis and Lura Ennis, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Ennis; daughter, Melanie Sexton; brother, Wayne Ennis; and sister, Frances Jacobs.


Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Woodham of Dothan, AL and  Jennifer Brannon of Dothan, AL; son, Jimmy Ennis (Patsy) of Athens AL; stepsons, Merwyn West, of Columbia, AL, Gary West of Dothan, AL, and Gregory West (Debra) of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Patti Flowers (Thomas), Jessica Lynn (Brian), Chad Ennis (Megan), Meagan Ennis, Drew McLure (Hannah), Steven Sexton (Kate), Sarah Sexton, and Johnny Sexton; step-grandchildren, Kari McLean (Paul), Kaci Wilbourne, Meliah West, Garrett West, Alden Ward (Scott), Anna Butler (Hunter), and Kaylyn Stewart (Jimmy); great-grandchildren, Hillery Brooks (Andrew), Brittney Brown (Micah), Maddie Ennis, Rowan Ennis, Gray Ennis, Tucker Lynn, Aiden Lynn, John Flowers, and Alex Sexton; step-great-grandchildren, Morgan Dawkins (Blake), Alana West, Blythe Ward, Ty Ward, Grady Butler, Reese Butler, McKenzie Wilbourne, Lexi West, and Aubrey West; great-great-grandchildren, Hadley Brooks, Warren Brooks, Hinson Brown, Millie Brown, and Emmi Flowers; sisters, Maerine Wise (Jimmy) and Glenda Shoaf (Gerry); and numerous nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Chad Ennis, Brian Lynn, Tucker Lynn, Drew McLure, Andrew Brooks, Micah Brown, and Thomas Flowers.


The family would like to say a special thank you to caregiver, Mary Gordon, the staff at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, and the staff of Gentiva Hospice.
