Obituary: Mr. James Norton “Jimmy” Miller
Mr. James Norton “Jimmy” Miller of Hartford went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Taylor Rutland officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Jimmy’s memory with your contribution to Children’s of Alabama, 1513 4th Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35233 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Mr. Miller was born on October 27, 1945, in Geneva County to the late James Lamar and Mamie Edna Peacock Miller. Jimmy loved his country and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Auburn University, was an avid Auburn football fan, and enjoyed playing golf. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jimmy was a man of faith and member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan where he serves as a Deacon.
In addition to his parents, a son, Greg Yeomans, and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Miller preceded him in death.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Eileen Miller; sons: Chris Miller (Amie), David Miller (Brooke), and David Yeomans (Rhonda); daughters: Lynn LaPlante (Mike), and Patsy Butler; grandchildren: Bo Miller, Blake Miller, Porter Miller, Mary Michael Miller, Hank Miller, Anna James Miller, Buster Miller, Mary Magaret LaPlante, Madelyn LaPlante, Morgan Waters (Rylan), Summer Ketchem (Jason), Scarlett Butler (Mandy), Amanda Bond (Jason), and Deanna Lester (Trent); great grandchildren: Andrew King (Ashton), Hunter Ketchem, Audrey Ketchem, Alex Ann Ketchem, Addison Bond, Parker Bond, Whit Lester, and Gray Lester; great-great grandson, Roan King; brother, Gary Miller (Peggy); other extended family and a host of friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Gentiva Hospice and a special thanks to Lindsey for the love and care provided to Jimmy.
