Obituary: Mr. James Reuben McAllister

 

Mr. James Reuben McAllister of Hartford passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at his home. He was 47. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, July 14, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Joe Mack Sawyer officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Sunday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mr. McAllister was born December 4, 1976 in Hattiesburg, MS to Reginald Dicky McAllister and Deborah Powell McAllister. He grew up in a very loving home. Reuben was a truck driver for many years and worked at Ft. Rucker and various other places throughout his career. He had many chances to travel and was a fearless climber with an adventurous spirit. One of his greatest joys in life was music.  Reuben was loved by his family and will be dearly missed. 

Reuben was preceded in death by his aunt, Sandra McAllister Peel; maternal grandparents, James and Joyce Powell; paternal grandparents, Ruby McAllister and Dick McAllister. 

Survivors include his mother, Deborah Powell McAllister; father, Reginald Dicky McAllister; brother, Reggie McAllister (Shawna); aunts: Shelia Reid, and Sharon Powell Galpin; uncle Robert Powell; three nieces, and a nephew; other extended family and friends.
