Mr. James Rodney Pitts, age 61, a resident of Cottonwood, died Tuesday October 31, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Pastor Richard Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery in Cottonwood.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the services at Calvary Baptist Church. 

Mr. Pitts was born on December 12, 1955 to Billy and Sara Pitts.  He was a self-employed tree surgeon.  He resided in Cottonwood and was of Baptist faith. 

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Pitts and a brother, Bobby Ray Pitts.

Survivors include his mother Sara McCall Pitts; son David Crooms; daughters Deanna (Steven) Nowlin and Stephanie Pitts; sisters Peggy Sheheen and Nancy (Terry) Knowles of Cowarts; and a special friend and soul mate Trisha Henderson.
