Mr. James Roger Teate, Jr. of Panama City, FL, formerly of Dothan, AL, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the age of 57.
Roger was born on November 27, 1964 to Jimmy and Willene Teate in Dothan, AL. Roger attended Dothan High School and Wallace College where he excelled in sports. He was hailed as a top athlete by his coaches and peers in football, baseball, softball, and track. Throughout his adult life, he continued to pursue excellence in his professional life and in his personal life as a coach. Roger always gave his all and in turn, he expected the same from the players he was coaching and from the colleagues he was mentoring toward their own achievements. For many years as a volunteer coach for Dothan Youth Sports and Houston Academy, his passion and drive to help others was evidenced by his success as a mentor to countless youth in the Wiregrass.
Roger bravely served his country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard. Professionally, Roger was a leader in the finance and automotive industry. Recently, he was named Auction Manager for Manheim in St. Petersburg, FL. In his business life, his goal was to inspire and lead every person to achieve their highest potential.
Above all these, Roger’s greatest passions were his wife, Abby and his daughter, Ashley. Roger never missed an opportunity to show them how much he loved them. As a devoted husband and father, his greatest success in life was the passion he instilled in his beautiful daughter.
Anyone who knew Roger for years or even upon meeting him for the first time could tell you that he was kind hearted, enjoyed living life to the fullest, and was always a source of positivity. No words can express how much his family and countless friends will miss thistruly inspirational, giving, and loving man. Roger’s unbounded love and devotion to his wife Abby and his daughter Ashley will remain forever in their hearts.
Roger is survived by his wife Abby Teate, his daughter Ashley Teate, future son in law, Trent Czudak, his father Mr. Jimmy Teate, sister Susie Teate, mother-in-law Mrs. JoAnn Womack, his sisters-in-law Amy (Tom), Angel (Shannon), April (Chad), his brother in law, Andrew (Jennifer), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Willene Teate, and his father-in-law, Mr. Bobby Womack.
A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, from 1 to 2 P.M., CDT.
