Mr. James (Jim) Simeon Dalton, II, age 63, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the SAMC after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Lynn Nesbitt and Allie Freeman officiating and Kendall Glover directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the church parlor prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, Worship Enhancement Lift Fund, 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, AL. 36301.
Mr. Dalton was born on November 23, 1951 in Ft. Payne the son of James Simeon Dalton, Sr. and Lillian Campbell Dalton. Jim was retired after 29 years as First Sergeant with the Alabama Army National Guard. He was a 1970 graduate of Fyffe High School, attended Jacksonville State University and was a graduate of Faulkner University. Mr. Dalton was a former member of the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church and a present member of the First United Methodist Church of Dothan where he was a member of the Progressors Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include wife of 39 years, Karen Chambers Dalton, Dothan; mother, Lillian Dalton, Boaz; two sisters, Ann Burgess (David), Canton, Ga.; Mary Land (Pete), Langston; a sister-in-law, Janice Jackson; two brothers-in-law, Stephen Chambers (Martha) & Jim Chambers (Kristi), all of Ft. Payne; several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Progressors Sunday School Class.
Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
