Mr. James Wallace Vinson of Chancellor passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was 82. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Alvin Sheffield and Rev. John Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Vinson was born in Dale County, Ala. on September 24, 1932 to the late John Farah Vinson and Clonia Peterson Vinson. He retired from CMI Industries after forty-three years of service. He was a longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Vermell Myers Vinson of Chancellor; two sons, James Ray Vinson (Sharon) of New Brockton and Wallace Rayburn Vinson (Wendy) of Mobile; daughter, Pamela Kaye Nichols (Jerry) of Coffee Springs; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Lou Mauldin of Andalusia and Lois Hatcher (Billy) of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
