Mr. Jan Franklin Sartain of Geneva, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2014.  He was 73.


 


Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Minister Douglas Williams officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.  Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Alabama, Monday, February 24, 2014.  The family will receive friends at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at which time they will depart for the graveside.  Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva are in charge of local arrangements.


 


In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or the American Red Cross.


 


Mr. Sartain was born January 4, 1941, in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Robert Franklin and Rita McCullar Sartain.  He loved music and was a band director in the state of Alabama for 25 years and later worked at Reliable Metal Products.  He was a member of the Geneva Church of Christ and was the director of the Bible correspondence course.  He was a very loving father and grandfather.


 


Survivors include his wife, Linda Sartain, Geneva; a son, Jason Sartain (Heather), Killeen, TX; a daughter, Rachel Nowling, Geneva; four grandchildren: Camryn and Dylan Nowling, Jackson Stevens and Ashton Sartain; other extended family and friends.
