Mr. Jearl Pridgen of Samson, Alabama passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014.  He was 76.


Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Samson with Rev. Phillip Barnes and Rev. Sam Totten officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, May 12, 2014 from 5 until 7 p.m.


The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.


Mr. Pridgen was born June 12, 1937, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late S.E. and Merle Watkins Pridgen.  He was a very loving husband, father, brother and friend who loved his family unconditionally.  For several years he was a member of the singing group, “Wings of Joy”.  Jearl was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.


In addition to his parents several brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Grady Driggers (Geraldine), Frances  Beckham (Dwight), Orell Weeks, and a great-nephew, Tate Sutherland all preceded him in death.


Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Driggers Pridgen, Samson; one daughter, Ann Bernard and husband George, Slocomb; twin brother, Earl Pridgen and wife Sue; sister, Jeanette Willingham and Tommy, all of Samson; uncle, Clyde Watkins and wife Phyllis; aunt, Cupidean Watkins, all of Enterprise; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bobby Joe and Peggy Warren, Jerry and Jimmie Branch and their daughter, Jada, Agnes Weeks and Brady Driggers; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.


The family would like to say a special thank you to First Choice Hospice, Gentiva Home Health, Anderson Fulford, Elouise Jones, Linda Peavey, Gail Barton and Teresa Bedsole for the loving care and compassion that was extended to their loved one.
