Mr. Jerald Rudolph Sellers, age 88, of Dothan, AL., passed away peacefully October 7, 2014 at Signature Health and rehab in Graceville, FL.
Funeral services for Mr. Sellers will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 at 11 a.m., at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. John Sanders and Dr. Mike Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Headland, AL. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Mr. Sellers was born June 15, 1926 in Henry County to the late Silas Baker and Hattie Bell Simmons Sellers. He was a member of Greystone United Methodist Church and owned Sellers Plumbing Co., for years. Mr. Sellers retired with 30 years of service with the Civil Service in Washington D.C.
Mr. Sellers was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Fleming Sellers, the mother of his children and his last wife, Lina Sewell Sellers, mother of his step-daughter. He was also preceded by one sister and brother-in-law, Webolene and Jake Rustin of Chipley, FL., a brother, Joseph Vonde Sellers and a brother-in-law Johnnie Wilkinson.
Mr. Sellers is survived by two sisters; Glenda Laquitta Sanders (John), of Dothan, and Clyde Wilkinson of Jacksonville, FL., a step-daughter, Blanche Sewell Hall of Dothan, a special neice, Debbie Waters (Larry), of Dothan and a special nephew Daryl Sanders of Dothan.
He leaves behind three daughters; Geraldine Mullins (Joe), Ann Barfield (Andy) of Dothan and Elaine Giddens (Ron) of Clermont, FL., one son, Bruce Sellers (Diane) of Dothan and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service will be Larry Waters, Daryl Sanders, Buford Fortson, Joe Walker, Bob Schamp and Jim Kinney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Greystone U.M.C at P.O. Box 1506, Dothan AL., 36302.
The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Health and Rehab for all the special care given to Mr. Sellers and also to Covenant Hospice in Florida for their care.
