NEWTON…Mr. Jerry Tom Fulford, a resident of Newton, died Thursday afternoon, November 21, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 61.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 24, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with his great-nephew, Kevin Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741.
Mr. Fulford, son of the late Tommy Georgia Fulford and Mae Bell Howard Griffin, was a native of Abbeville and moved to Newton at an early age. He served his community as a police officer in Newton, Daleville, and other areas of the county in addition to being a volunteer fireman. Mr. Fulford retired as a truck driver for FirstFleet Transportation after over twenty years of employment. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, karaoke, and especially spending time with his family. Mr. Fulford was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Evelyn Petty Chapman.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lynda Chapman Fulford, Newton; two daughters, Heather Prickett (Bradley), Echo Community and Stephanie Jackson, Dothan; five sisters, Tommie Eaton (Mark), Pembroke, Georgia, Eldora Wilkerson (Jack Ammons), Lanora “Pat” Watson, all of Ewell Community, Debbie Watson (Joe), Newton and Janice Glover (Billy), Wicksburg; six grandchildren, Brittany Prickett, Mason Prickett, Haylee Fulford, Chasity Hoskins, Hannah Jackson, and Noah Owens; two great grandchildren, Alyssa Thibeault and Axel Thibeault; father-in-law, James Chapman, Pinckard; sister-in-law, Kim Turner (Donnie), Pinckard; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mason Prickett, Jared Thibeault, Kirstine Roberts, Stephen Gibbons, Liam Ward, and Graeme Ward. The honorary pallbearer will be Lowell Williams.
