BLAKELY, GEORGIA…Mr. Jerry Whitehead, Sr., a resident of Blakely, Georgia (formerly of Midland City), died Wednesday morning, January 25, 2023, at his home. He was 77.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 29, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Whitehead, son of the late Roy Albert Whitehead and Beatrice Leger Whitehead, was a native of Midland City. He formerly lived in Pinckard and Newton before moving to Blakely, Georgia in 2004. Mr. Whitehead was retired as a farmer and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Burch and Luedell Whitehead Bryant; two brothers, Larry Whitehead and Eugene Whitehead.
Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-years, Brenda Watson Whitehead, Blakely, Georgia; his son, Jerry Whitehead (Angela), Webb; his grandson, Cody Whitehead; two step-daughters, Renada Hays and Catherine Anderson; several step-grandchildren; his siblings, Onise Brackins, Midland City, Ann Henderson (Lamar), Eufaula, Billy Joe Whitehead, Grimes, Edward Whitehead (Judy), Jackie Whitehead (Debbie), Joyce Chandler (Delbert), all of Midland City; sister-in-law, Dora Whitehead, Daleville; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnny Burch, Henry Henderson, Bert Chandler, LeRoy Whitehead, Jerome Miller, Mike Huff, and Jerry Daniels.
