Mr. Jessie James Black, Jr. of Samson passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021. He was 88. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Danleys Cross Roads Cemetery with Rev. Pete Roberts, officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing.
Mr. Black was born in Coffee County, AL on January 26, 1933, to the late Jessie James Black, Sr. and Verbie Annie Sims Black. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Dorsey Trailers in Elba for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Black; daughter, Elaine Moody; two grandchildren; three brothers and a sister.
He is survived by four daughters, Gwen Bedsole (Bobby), Foyce Johnson, both of Samson, Debbie Williams (Waylon) of the Lowery Community, and Carolyn Watson (Webb); son, James Black all of Samson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorene Mauldin of Lake Wales, FL.
