Mr. Jim Hugh Avery, of Madrid, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018. He was 76.


 


Born April 25, 1941 in Houston County to the late Henry W. and Neoma Holland Avery, Jim was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors.


 


In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by three infant sisters.


 


Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Watkins Avery; his daughter, Sandi (Clifford) Jarrett; his son, Garry (Rhonda) Avery; his sister, Nina (Marcus) Everett; his grandchildren, Ashley (Jonathan) Pippin, Blake (Maranne) Hall, Caleb Avery, Jacob Avery and Emily Jarrett; honorary grandchildren, Suzanne and Eliott Gibson and Joseph Hoekinga; two special family friends, Tommy and Shari Traylor; other relatives and friends.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 from Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Plummer and Reverend Shane Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in Madrid City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at Bethel Baptist Church.


 


The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
