Mr. Jimmy Wilson Owens of Samson passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015. He was 73.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 in the Eden Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Hollis and Rev. Dale Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjacent church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m.


Mr. Owens was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on May 8, 1942 to the late Woodrow Wilson Owens and Lillian Tillary Owens.  He graduated from Samson High School, Class of 1959.  He served in both the National Guard and US Army Reserves, having served a tour overseas in Desert Storm.  Prior to his retirement Mr. Owens worked most of his life in the Civil Service.  His three brothers, Terry Owens, Billy Ray Owens and Bobby Carter, preceded him in death.


He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Aneta Owens of Samson; two daughters, Shay Howell and Shan Jones (Robert) both of Enterprise; son, Trent Owens of Coffee Springs; seven grandchildren, Trey Owens, Hannah, Parker, Brian and Scott Jones and Brandon (Hayden) and Ryan Howell; and brother, Jerry Owens of Eufaula.
