Obituary: Mr. Joe Earl Tate


 


Mr. Joe Earl Tate of Hartford passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 88. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 with Rev. Scott Cox officiating in the chapel of Sorrells funeral Home in Slocomb. 



Mr. Tate was born November 20, 1935 in Hartford to the late Shelby Lee and Leola Culverhouse Tate. Joe served three tours in Vietnam, two tours in Korea, three tours in Germany and retired MSGT after 22 years in the Army. He was a member of Hartford Baptist Church. Joe was a successful farmer and he loved spending time with his family.


 In addition to his parents, sisters, Melba Ruth Enfinger and Shelby Jean Tate; and brother, Billy Tate, all preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife, Brenda Tate, Hartford; two daughters: Felicia Tharp, Slocomb, and Stephanie Clayton, Tuscaloosa; three sons: Danny Joe Tate, Dearborn, Michigan, Dearl Tate, Dothan, and Dwain Tate, Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters: June Silavent, Slocomb, and Jackie Branton, Rehobeth; two brothers: Wayne Tate, Esto, FL, and Don Tate, Rehobeth; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
