Mr. John L. “Larry” Clark, 68, of Midland City passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 after an extended illness.
Larry was born July 12, 1954 in Dothan, Alabama to the late John Clark and Joyce Carlson Clark. He was a member of the Dothan High School class of 1973 and attended Wallace Community College. In his lifetime he owned and managed several retail stores in the area including The Hitching Post, LA. Boot Town, and The Before and After Shop. Larry also worked at Sony until the Dothan plant closed in 2010.
Larry was one of a kind. Larry was stubborn, hard-headed, stuck in his ways, but above all else he was love. Larry met the love of his life on a blind date in 1984. Six months later they were married and together they raised two-strong willed daughters. His daughters gave him him three beautiful grandsons that were the absolute light of his life. Larry loved his family above all else.
Larry had many passions throughout his life. As a young man Larry enjoyed riding horses and showing them in local horse shows with his youngest brother. Larry was a lifelong movie buff. He enjoyed his movies best in a theater with a bucket of popcorn and a Diet Coke. Larry was an avid football fan. From playing in his youth to watching his nephew play at Troy University and beyond. He couldn’t get enough.
We love you, Bulldog.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce Clark; in-laws, Hiram and Carolyn Woodham; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Page Woodham Clark of Midland City; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Nick Belcher of Kinsey, and Tabitha and Will Buege of Rehobeth; brothers, Greg Clark (Mary) of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Rusty Clark (Sandra) of Alabaster, Alabama; grandchildren, John Harley and Truman Belcher, Macklin Buege, and Carter Belcher-Payan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2022 at the funeral home.
The family would to say a special thank you to Dayspring Hospice and Larry’s “cousins” Susan Howes.
