MALVERN… Mr. John M. “Mike” Virag, a resident of Malvern (formerly of Ariton) died late Tuesday morning, March 26, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 62.


            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2024, in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Rocky Head Community, with Reverend Jeremy Meetze officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Virag, son of the late Joe Virag and Norma Nell Lott Virag, was a native of Ariton and has lived in the Malvern area since 1994. He was retired as a welder in metal fabrication. Mr. Virag was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and University of Alabama Football fan. He was a very talented artist, who could draw very well, and enjoyed building and repairing almost anything. Some of his best times were spent watching Western movies and watching wrestling on Monday nights. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Baker, brother, Tony Virag, and the mother of his sons, Deloris Daniels.


            Surviving relatives include his daughter, Hallie Virag and her mother Lisa Aplin Virag, Webb; two sons, Michael Paul Virag, Troy and Sean Virag, Chipley, Florida; sister, Patricia V. Balli (Enrique), Dothan; granddaughter, Peyton Michaela Virag; sister-in-law, Elaine Virag, Ozark; brother-in-law, Robert Clark, Jack, Alabama; half-brother, John Thomas (Sharon) Venice, Florida; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
