Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama
Mr. John Marshall Griggs, Sr., a resident of Ozark, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Griggs will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Masonic Rites, Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Griggs was born December 27, 1940 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Alto Mixon Griggs and Thelma Mae Bottoms Griggs. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1959 and began working with Daleville Auto Parts following graduation. He started working with Graceville Auto Parts in Graceville, Florida and later retired from Car Quest Auto Parts in Panama City following twenty years. He was a Mason and member of Clinton Lodge having received a fifty-year pin. Marshall enjoyed everything outdoors, fishing, NASCAR and college football. He was an Apiarist “Beekeeper” and enjoyed sharing honey with his friends. Mr. Griggs was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Homer and Judith Griggs.
Survivors include two sons, John Marshall Griggs, Jr. (Petrus) of Panama City, Florida and Brian Griggs (Natalie) of Ozark; one grandson, Justin Griggs of Panama City, Florida; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Linda Griggs of Newton, Neil and Sandra Griggs of Dothan and Mickey and Kathy Griggs of Ozark. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
