John Mike Miles of Dothan passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the age of 79.

Mike was born on July 8, 1943, to the late Ernest Miles and Effie Kelly Miles in Graceville, Florida. He was a 1961 graduate of Campbellton High School and a veteran of the of the United States Air Force. While serving from 1964 until 1968, he spent time in the Philippines. In 1964, Mike married the love of his life, Bonnie. Together they raised a loving and supportive daughter, Laurie.

Mike was a devoted Christian and member of Grandview Baptist for over 46 years. During his time at Grandview, he served as a Deacon until his passing. His greatest title was being a faithful husband and father. People often remembered him and referred to him as the “Lawnmower Man.” Bonnie would often tell Mike, even after 57 years, “You got the best, keep the rest.” They shared a loving, compassionate, and Christian based relationship, which is the reason their love was so strong. Mike was the first and most important love of Laurie’s life, together they shared a very special father/daughter relationship, that only dads with girls can understand.

In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his sisters, Allie Mae Rister, Mary Lois Bradley, Alfie Monds, and Eliza Miles, and brother, Valery Miles.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Smith Miles, and daughter, Laurie Miles.

Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday, August 5, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. Burial is to follow immediately after the service at Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Campbellton, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Kindred Hospice.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Kindred Hospice for all the care and support during their time of need.
