Johnny Mack Cureton, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta,, Georgia. He was 68.


Funeral services for Mr. Cureton will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage. Burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the; Wiregrass Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.


Mr. Cureton was born September 17, 1948 in Campbellton, Florida to the late Chalmers Carmichael and Edna Boatwright Cureton. He worked for Dothan City Schools in maintenance and retired after 33 years. Mr. Cureton also volunteered at Shutes Pecans and loved shelling peas and pecans. He was an avid recycler and loved the Auburn Tigers.


Mr. Cureton is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Cureton; two brothers, Bobby Joe and Russ Cureton.


Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Brantley, Dothan, Patty and Eric Wilson, Covington, GA; four grandchildren, Brooke and Brantley and Jennifer, Jessica and Ben; seven great grandchildren; six sisters, Janice Cureton, Williemae Cureton, Rose Cureton, Mary Dickson, Ann Smith, Virginia Manwaring; two brothers, Earl Cureton and Jimmy Cureton.
