Joseph Carl “Joe” Robinson went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was 63.
Memorial services for Joe will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Clint Adams and Reverend Kevin Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Joe was born in Columbus, Georgia September 8, 1952, the son of the late Fred Lawrence and Julia “Judy” Robinson. He was raised in Opelika and was a 1977 graduate of Beauregard High School. Following high school he graduated from john Patterson College with a degree as an Electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 443 for 40 years. Everyone who knew Joe loved him and also knew that he loved and lived life to the fullest and was so happy all of the time. Joe had a passion for rebuilding and restoring cars and he loved flying as well. He completed his first solo flight from the Headland Airport on April 10, 1994 in a Cessna 150. Joe was also an avid Auburn Tigers Football fan. He will always be remembered for his zest for life and his very humorous, yet compassionate personality.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Jean Robinson, Dothan, who will always refer to him as “MY JOE”; son, John Brooks Robinson, Clermont, FL, granddaughter, Miss Ellie Rose Robinson; two brothers, Lawrence Robinson, Cowarts, Leon Robinson, Washington State, sister, Yvonne “Von” Owens, Cowarts; very special “Aunt Net” Vordenbaum; three stepdaughters; ones stepson; seven step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; his very best friend Tim and Wanda Lewis whom he loved like another brother; several nieces, nephews, cousins also survive, along with a host of other very good friends.
