OZARK…Mr. Joseph Edward “Eddie” Williams, a resident of the Chalkhead Community, near Ozark, died early Thursday morning at his home. He was 63.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 26, 2021, in Chalkhead Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Woodham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.


            Flowers will be accepted.


            Mr. Williams, son of the late James Edward Williams and Annie Myrle Woodham Williams, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. He was a 1976 Graduate of Carroll High School and was a graduate of Wallace Community College with a degree in Automobile Repair. Mr. Williams was formerly employed with Bondy’s Ford for thirteen years, Lewis Carter Manufacturing in Donalsonville, Pro Tin in Ozark, a metal fabrication company, AWA in Headland and Brown Manufacturing near Ozark. He was a former member of the Choctawhatchee Volunteer Fire Department at Brown’s Crossroads. Mr. Williams was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his family, NASCAR, Alabama Football, hunting, fishing, and any activity outdoors. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory McCollough and his grandparents, Joseph Edward Woodham and Gladys Tharpe Woodham.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Sheila Caraway Williams; two daughters, Heather M. Williams (Teresa) and Kristie Johnson (Chris), all of Ozark; a son, Justin Tyler Williams, Newton; six grandchildren, Nathaniel Marier Williams, Victoria Shaffer (Travis), Kayla Love (Hunter), Brooke McDaniel (Drew Johnston), Robert Johnson (Heather), Tyler Johnson (Sami) and Max Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Jacobi Shaffer, Kaylee Shaffer, Easton Love, Noah Johnson, Conway Johnson, and Henry Johnson;  two uncles, Daniel Woodham (Elaine) and Donald Woodham (Mignonette), all of Ozark; sister-in-law, Cathy Tew (Gary), Dothan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Chris Johnson, Travis Shaffer, Kelly Strickland, Sammy Maund, David Colvin, David Goodson, and Jeff Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Woodham, Daniel Woodham, Michael Woodham, Mitchell Woodham, Kim Woodham Strickland, Jacobi Shaffer, Max Johnson, and Gary Tew.


            The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health nurses and staff, especially, Heather Kendrick, for their loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Williams and his family during this time.
