 Obituary: Mr. Joseph Lamar Graves


 


Mr. Joseph Lamar Graves of Dothan passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his residence. He was 85. 


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. 


Mr. Graves was born September 29, 1928 in Houston County to the late John Ewell and Mary Kennedy Graves. He owned and operated the Firestone Tire Store in Daleville. Mr. Graves was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served in the Korean War. 


In addition to his parents, his wife, Helen R. Graves; son, David Graves; sister, Ethelene Purvis all preceded him in death. 


Survivors include three daughters: Ruth Duke Graves, Joyce Kirkland (Jerry) and Brenda Spann all of Dothan; one son, Joseph W. Graves (Vannesa), Newport News, VA; three sisters: Elizabeth Leary, Jeannette McDonough and Montez Graves all of Dothan; four granddaughters; four grandsons; four great granddaughters; two grand grandsons; special caregiver, Linda Curry; special niece, Kay Robinson; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
